ABOUT
«In my own words»
Most people don´t know that …
1. I am a rebel with a cause. I have channeled this daring and nonconformist element of my personality since elementary school into creative writing. In my spare time, I strive to master the art of magic realism in short stories, which capture some of my early upbringing in Puerto Rico.
2. In middle and high school I was second violin in the school orchestra. One of my favorite songs continues to be the instrumental version of the Russian song “Dark Eyes”. And one of my favorite classical music composers is Claude Debussy.
3. Also in middle and high school, I took extensive ballet, modern and jazz dance lessons. I once seriously contemplated becoming a professional dancer.
4. I started studying logical reasoning and public speaking in college, participating in nine university debate tournaments in the Northeastern U.S.
5. I am a polyglot. I speak English, French and Spanish with native fluency. I am also fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Italian. I look forward to learning Mandarin and Russian.
6. As a critical and an independent thinker, I enjoy reading women philosophers of the 18th-century Enlightenment. Favorite luminaries include Sophie de Condorcet, Olympe de Gouges, Louise d’Épinay and Mary Wollstonecraft.
7. I lived for more than seven years in francophone Europe. My time in Paris influenced my worldview and conception of life as guided by the pursuit of gender equality and individual liberty.
8. I am an avid salsa dancer.
